Tools and Hardware Reviews of DEWALT DW920K-2 1/4-Inch 7.2-Volt Cordless Two-Position Screwdriver KitCustomer Review: Best cordless tool Summary: 5 Stars
DeWalt's 7.2 volt cordless drill is the best cordless tool I own. I purchased a comb pack from DeWalt containing a hammer drill, a light, a saws all, and a circular saw, all cordless. Inside I found a bonus cordless screwdriver. This tool I use more than all the other tools combined. It does many jobs I usually would do with a cordless drill, including drilling. I loved it so much that I purchased one for a friend.
Customer Review: Best electric screwdriver yet. Summary: 4 Stars
Upon the death of my Craftsman versapak (same thing as the Black & Decker)electric screwdriver, I was looking for something better. I already had a Dewalt 18v 3 speed hammer drill, which for some jobs was a little too heavy or bulky to do what I needed. So I opted for the Dewalt DW920 HD Cordless Scredriver. I have not been disappointed. This thing has tons more power than my Craftsman ever did, and is still light and small enough to get into tight spots. It surprised me at the torque it had to drive wood screws through plywood into 2x4's (and actually snapping the heads off several screws.) The hex lock system on it is great, as I can use a lot of the craftsman quick lock drill bits. I purchased a magnetic driver set for this screwdriver which come with different bits such as hex bits, star bits, square bits, etc. Another useful accessory for this driver is a 1/4" hex to socket adapter. I use this drill as a nut driver often, and its easy with the adapter.
The only, and I mean only, gripe I have with this screwdriver is the bit release collar. If you happen to bump it into something (such as missing a screw, sticking it into a ladder hole, etc. the bit will fall out. This isn't a big deal most of the time, but when you are up on a 7ft ladder, having to climb down to get your bit is aggravating.
Customer Review: Best investment I've ever made!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been delighted with this product since I switched from the only available competor which was a SKILL 3.something volt, which worked well for the stae-of-the-art batteries of the time.
I dropped my first Dewalt about 14 feet to concrete and it did'nt hold up to well. It was three years old. I immediately ordered another. Gorilla Glue and a little duct tape for clamping and the first was good to go, and still is. Yes, I lost the swivel feature, which I never used, but darn....it's still. ticking. The New (2nd one) is as strong as ever and my Union now allows us to use cordless tools and when I came out with this "little" screwdriver, instead of an 18 volt or now 24 volt...climb around the job site and get the job done. I think I've probably convinced several hundred tradesmen to consider "job fatigue" instead of raw horse power..(volts) to their advantage. Dewalt keep them coming.
Customer Review: Best of the best Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great product to have around the house. It has amazing power. It keeps my 18 Volt in its case. Great for small projects. My father-in-law loved it so much that he had to buy one.
Customer Review: Best screwdriver and you can fix the chuck wobble Summary: 5 Stars
I do remodeling and this is a great tool design, The tool has very good battery life, feel, torque etc. As another reviewer has noted the chuck did wobble but if you watch the bit it is not the shaft . I removed the sliding chuck ring and found the tension spring was not flat ground on the ends and the plastic sleeve below it had a casting bur left causing the wobble(it made the chuck sleeve tilt when released). I flat ground the spring ends and removed the bur and all is ok now. The shaft was not the problem. I suppose that being made in China instead of the USA may have something to do with it. I called DeWalt and the said that to be competitive the do not make this tool here, it would cost too much. He was not too concerned about the wobble because it does not cause the bit to be off center. I should give it less than 5 stars but I like this tool so much better than anything else I have used for driving fasteners and light drilling and the fix was easy and took less than 5 minutes.I am beginning to be concerned with DeWalt's quality control.I have had several other issuses with other tools that are minor but show lack of attention to detail in manufacturing and assembly.(they do have a lot of reconditioned tools?)
