I originally bought this auger bit assortment for a home repair project I needed to complete. They are tough, accurate, stay sharp pull out the wood chips they make and are not too expensive. Since the completion of that project they in all their sizes have been often used to enable me to make just the right sized bored hole in wood projects of various design. Highly recommended!
Description of Irwin 49998 6 Piece 1/4-Inch to 1-Inch Solid Center Auger Bit Assortment
Solid center design provides extra rigidity while boring. Wide lands keep the bit straight as it bores through the hole. The flutes are ground behind the lands to funnel chips to the inside of the bit and away from the outside diameter, producing a faster, cleaner cut. Single-spur cutting edge scribes the circumference of the hole for a smoother finish. Coarse screw point provides fast boring in hard and soft woods. Full-length heat treated bit guards against bending in heavy-duty applications and strengthens the bit where the greatest strain occurs.Ship Auger Bits
