Customer Review: BIG machine!

First I did not buy this from Amazon. I bought it from Woodcraft because I had some gift cards to use up. This is my second attempt at a drill press. My first was a small 12" bench top Shop Fox from Grizzly and I hated it. No power and a pain to use. It's gone now!
Setting up: EASY! It didn't take me much time at all compared to setting up the much smaller Shop Fox. HOWEVER, most will need a second person around to assist placing the head on the mount. It's quite heavy. I muscled it up there and probably shouldn't have risked it. Total time to set up: 1 hour approx.
Pros: So far it's doing what I need it to do. I played with it last night and tried a 1 1/2 forstner bit and drilled through a 1/2 in. piece of walnut and taking my time and not pushing it and it made a very clean hole. If you're not aware there is a light tucked up under the head. I didn't know about this until after setting it up. Nice big table. Heavy drill.
Cons: Not many but I didn't need this size machine. I probably could have gotten away with the smaller 12" bench top from Jet. And I wouldn't have a need to change the belt to change speeds with the 12". This you need to move the belt. It's huge! I wasn't prepared for the size. I need to get a smaller, shorter stand to use it. I'm a big guy and I currently have it on an old hospital medicine cart that sits about 3.5 or 4 feet off the ground. I would have to get on a stool to move the belt. The size may not be much of a con I just probably don't need that much drill. After my bad experience with the Shop Fox I probably went a bit overboard and went too big with motor size and overall size.
Overall it's pretty decent. Other than I probably didn't need that big of a machine it's well worth the money.
Oh, and FYI, if you're comparing the bench top 15" Jet or the stand alone 15" Jet they are exactly the same motor/head, chuck, etc. Both were on sale for the same price when getting this one and maybe I should have gotten the sanding machine but didn't see it until after getting this one home.

The JDP-15M tackles jobs both big and small, thanks to its quick-release, crank-operated worktable height adjustment, which allows rotation to 45 degrees in either direction.
