Tools and Hardware Reviews of KR Tools 11970 64-Piece X-TREME Drill and Bit Set ComboCustomer Review: Padded part count, mediocre quality Summary: 2 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I will start by saying I was disappointed with the KR Tools X-TREME Combo. Yes, I expected that the three cases were part of the 64-count - that is standard procedure - but I didn't expect so many duplicate bits. There are doubles of three sizes of drill bits - which I might expect in a much larger drill bit collection - but not when there are only 15. And what's up with the TEN #2 Philips bits and SIX #2 square bits? Yes, these are the most common sizes and might wear out sooner, but I think that's overdoing it. And where are the Torx bits? Missing in action.
The quality of the individual bits and drivers is just okay - I've seen better in similarly priced sets. The hex-shank drill bits have two problems - one, as another reviewer noted, once you remove them from the case you'll have a very hard time getting them back in, and two, the bits appear to be held in place with a tiny setscrew that I worry will come loose over time.
The cases are huge and rugged, but they are also of identical appearance so you'll have to refer to the label on the back to see which one you have. Lastly, the identification of the individual bits is low-contrast red on black - very difficult to read. I would have been happier with a single case that held all the bits, preferably with a clear cover so that I could see what was inside.
I can't recommend the KR Tools 64-bit X-TREME set. It's not terrible, but I do think one can do better elsewhere.
Customer Review: Poor quality set Summary: 1 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I was very disappointed with this drill and bit set. The price is great, no doubt and it seems like you are getting a lot of items in here. However, do not be fooled by the "64-piece" set. It is really mostly screwdriver heads and very few drill bits.
The case itself is made cheaply. It broke right in my hands in half. We did not even pull it apart hard or anything. Furthermore, the drill bits are also very fragile. They break extremely easily after trying to drill a hole in our wall to mount a TV. None of the items in the set last very long and it's almost like this is a disposable set. These are the equivalent of Tool Shop brand tools.
Overall, this was a disappointment set and if you want something high quality, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
Customer Review: Quality is average, too many duplicate bits. Summary: 3 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Hummmm..., I didn't expect that many duplicate bits in this set. Why are there TEN #2 Philips bits and SIX #2 square bits? Yes, these are the most common sizes and might wear out sooner, but TEN of the same size bit is too much.
All the bits are metal wrapped in a nice hard coating. The hard coating won't stop the bits from cracking under heat. But this is to be expected from bits at such a low cost.
The rapid change connector looks like it won't last long, and the magnetic screw guide is barely strong enough to keep a screw against the bit that it's holding.
I like that it comes in the carrying case so that I don't lose any piece, but it was a little difficult getting the bits back in the the holders, and the case should be re-designed to have a clear strip or something I could see through so I didn't have to open each case to get what I'm looking for. Also, the markings for the sizes are printed in red on a black background. Not very easy to see in low light.
Overall, this is not a contractor or professional quality set. But if you're just a homeowner who wants to have the tools you need when you need them, then these are probably for you. It's an very economical kit.
Customer Review: Quantity over quality - at least the cases are solid Summary: 3 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Summary: Quite a lot of drills and bits for the price, but you get what you pay for. If you're an occasional DIY'er, these are probably a great value for you, especially if they are still on sale for a little over twenty bux.
Pluses
+ The cases are solid - to test them out I dropped one from shoulder height onto concrete - It popped open but it didn't break.
+ The zirconium nitride coated drill bits cut very nicely despite what I saw as less than perfect machining on the sharpening.
+ The spring loaded bit holder is nice, as is the magnetic extension holder
+ Lots of drills and bits for the price - a good value
Minuses
- It's very hard to put the bits back in the case - darn near impossible.
- When removing the bits, in two instances the plastic fingers holding the bits in broke
- Of the 7 quick release drill bits, three were wobbly, one was VERY wobbly

Customer Review: T the BUILDER is ready.... Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
My gosh...so many bits in one package. I am now called T the Builder at home by the kids and am ready to go with just about any project that needs to be done around here. The bits are of medium/high grade quality and give you the versatility you need with your drill. I dont think they missed anything here...everything you could possibly ever need for light duty work is included...these are not for the heavy duty construction guys out there...these are for us do-it-yourself types at home.
Excellent value and combination.
