Tools and Hardware Reviews of Makita BHP452HW 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Compact Cordless Percussion-Driver DrillCustomer Review: Very satisfied! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband ordered this one! He knows because his has been a carpenter for the past 45 years. Retired from the woodshop at Chrysler three years ago.
Still loving to do woodworking, he is busy restoring our ''57 Thunderbird so won't be using wood for awhile. He did remodel oor kitchen two years ago and wishes he had had it for that job! It is a brand to trust, he would know!
He recommends it highly!

Customer Review: Works Great, Very Powerful Summary: 4 Stars
Howdy,
First a brief bit of background info. I am a sixty year old guy who lives in a small home with a Golden Retriever in Northern Nevada. I enjoy cooking, the outdoors and reading and I am a custom rifle builder. I have learned over the years that the joy of buying something cheap is soon lost in the pain of disappointment and failure!
I use the Makita for home remodeling and in my shop, in both environments the drill motor may sit for awhile between uses. The system seems to maintain a charge even after sitting for awhile and the second battery allows for constant work with no interruption! I have found the Makita drill to be very powerful and controllable and I think it does a great job!

Customer Review: makita drill Summary: 4 Stars
was very pleased with the power and feel of my new makita 18 volt lithium percussion drill-driver, was all I was hoping it would be and more. would definitely recommend it to others. only thing I was unhappy with was the damage done to the case in shipping, Amazon.com said they would refund 20% on the cost but they never did.
Customer Review: nice quality at first glance - 1st one was a repack done badly Summary: 4 Stars
Got the first of these from Amazon and it was obviously a repack - and done poorly - so I sent it back. Don't want to risk a loose lithium ion battery's maltreatment, it was out of its proper pocket when I opened the case, plus a loose drill bit sticking out of its unprotected charging socket! Amazon swapped it out in no time, with no hassle. That is why I am a repeat customer.
After lots of research, this looks like the best drill for the price ($169 black Monday), the chuck is a Jacobs (made where these days?) and locks for easy one-handed tightening. You can tell the most important mechanicals are metal, and overall it feels great in the hand and operates easily and smoothly.
I'll update after some use, and have given it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the poor repack job by either Makita or Amazon.
Customer Review: no complaints Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this drill to replace an 8 year old 14v Dewalt. First thing you notice is the light weight of the drill and how comfortable it is to hold with a nice weight balance. I know most of the lithium-ion tools are lighter now but this just feels the best. Battery lasts forever and I actually used the drill at least 4 or 5 times with the charge it shipped with! Also, the charger is excellent and charges very quickly.
Only two small complaints now. The case seems "cheaper" than the old Dewalt case, and I wish this drill came with the small belt hook. Other than that I am very pleased and would highly recommend to others.
